Favorite Christmas Carols: Who is He?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Who is He in yonder stall at whose feet
the shepherds fall?

Who is He that stands and weeps at the
grave where Laz'rus sleeps?

Lo, at midnight who is He
prays in dark Gethsemane?

Who is He in Calvary's throes,
asks for blessings on His foes?

Who is He that from the grave
comes to heal and help and save?

Who is He that from yon throne
rules the world of light alone?

'Tis the Lord, O wondrous story!
'Tis the Lord, the King of glory;
At His feet we humbly fall,
 crown Him, crown Him
Lord of all!

Favorite Christmas Carols: Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown
when Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem's home there was found no room
for Thy holy nativity.
O Come to my heart, Lord Jesus: there is room in my heart for Thee!

Heaven's arches rang when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy degree;
But in lowly birth didst Thou come to earth,
 And in great humility.
O Come to my heart, Lord Jesus: there is room in my heart for Thee!

The foxes found rest, and the birds their nest
in the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou Son of God,
in the deserts of Galilee.
O Come to my heart, Lord Jesus: there is room in my heart for Thee!

Thou camest, O Lord, with the living Word
that should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn
they bore Thee to Calvary.
O Come to my heart, Lord Jesus: there is room in my heart for Thee!

When the heavens shall ring, and the angels sing
at Thy coming to victory,
Let Thy voice call me home, saying,
  "Yet there is room, there is room at My side for thee."
And my heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus: there is room in my heart for Thee!

Update: Psalm 119 Resh

Over a busy summer, fall and beginning of winter I have slowly continued memorizing Psalm 119. I didn't quite make the goal of finishing in October, now the goal is Christmas. I have just finished section number 20, RESH.  Two more to go!

Some of the verses that have stood out to me are:

:5-6 O that my ways were directed to keep thy ways! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

:41-42 Let thy mercies come unto me also, O LORD, even thy salvation according unto thy word. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

:46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

:53 Horror hath taken hold on me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

:59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

:63 At midnight I will rise to give thanks thee because of thy righteous judgments.

:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

:101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any have iniquity have dominion over me.

:137 Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments.

:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.
